Re: [abap2xlsx] How to argue for Security in abap2xlsx

Dear Ivan,

thanks a lot for your comment. I took the argument "It's Open Source. If there was malware, people would find it". It was my first one. I was then asked:" How many people use it? How many are reading the code? If only some 10 people actually read it, it's not enough".

I think if I can state something like "100 companies, some of them major global players, use it", he will be OK, even without actual names. If the response is "only 5 companies, all of them start ups", we developers would probably not be allowed to use it anymore in our company.

I absolutely understand that you cannot share the list of companies. However, can you share information like "X Companies, Y downloads so far, Z people contribute to the code"? I found a blog from you from 2012, stating how many people sign up for A2X at that time and that it had been the most successful SND project in 2011 and 2012. Something like that with current data would really help me out.

Or can I find something like that online already? I searched the forums and abap2xlsx.org, but I found nothing in this regard.

Again, thanks a lot for considering my post and for the great job you and the A2X team has done.

Best regards,

Timo
